When preparing for this dance to Alabaster Box by CeCe Winans, I discovered THREE WOMEN.
While at the home of a Pharisee, a sinful woman recorded in Luke 7:36-50 crashed the party. She wet Jesus’ feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. Jesus told his judgmental host, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
GOD SAID TO ME: Don’t judge a person’s offering to God because their offering may be exactly what God wants, and your offering may not be, even though you may think he should be satisfied with what you are offering. (see Cain’s offering in Genesis 4)
Later in Bethany, SIX DAYS BEFORE PASSOVER, it’s recorded in John 12:1-8, Mary (sister of Lazarus and Martha) took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. Jesus said to her accusers, “Leave her alone. It was INTENDED that she should SAVE this perfume for the DAY of my BURIAL. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.” GOD SAID TO ME: My instructions and my timing are important. Romans 8:28,
It is recorded in Matthew 26:2,6-13, Mark 14:3-9 that while in Bethany, at Simon the Lepers house, about TWO DAYS BEFORE PASSOVER a woman (presumably Mary Magdalene), came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his HEAD as he was reclining at the table. (see anointing of High Priest in Psalm 133) Jesus said of her, “She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” GOD SAID TO ME: Obedience is better than sacrifice. She anointed my HEAD, at the proper time and in the designated place and for the purpose I intended. Therefore, what she has done will never be forgotten….AND HE KEPT HIS PROMISE.
I interpreted this song as being about the sinful woman who made a spiritual offering to the Lord LIKE the Mary’s that prepared our Lord for burial.
NOW I WAS READY TO MINISTER THE DANCE.
Three different women. Two different Mary’s and One sinful woman who anointed Jesus feet with her tears. I AM THAT WOMAN.
Blessings
