Sure, you can eat whatever you want to eat. We’re all going to die anyway, right? That is true and even better if you know that you have eternal life through Jesus Christ. But, the fact remains that our physical body is going to die (wear out) at some point. My question to you is, what will the quality of your life be (barring a physical accident or attack) if you consistently continue to eat as much of everything that you want to eat while you are still here on earth?
Some of the things we feed our flesh and our spirit will kill us sooner than God wants us to die. You can live fairly long and miserable in poor condition. Likewise, you can be alive physically, but dead spiritually (outside of Christ). God’s desire for us is to have life and to have it more abundantly.
It’s never too late to make a change. The body is so amazing that it can actually regenerate and reverse some conditions. God wants us to grow in him Spirit, Soul and Body. In order to do that, we have to watch our diet (spiritually and physically) and be willing to make changes. God created our bodies, and it is our responsibility to take care of this precious, amazing gift that he has given us. Observe what goes in your eyes, ears and mouth. Ask yourself if it edifies God. Read labels, look up the ingredients and find out what you are putting in your body. Some poisons are allowed by the FDA simply because they don’t make you drop dead immediately, but over time……..
Think about your car. Your transportation is important to you, so you take care of it. You wouldn’t put just anything in your fuel tank and expect your car to run well. How much more important is your body and your soul than a car?
Today, I thought about how careful a pregnant woman is about what she eats because she knows that there is a precious baby growing inside of her. Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? How precious is the Spirit that lives within you?
My heartfelt desire is that you be well.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 1 Corinthians 6:12
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 2:14-17
