Scribal Warfare

Spiritual warfare has a fertile battle ground in the literary industry. The written word is very powerful. The truth is that anyone can write a book. Therefore, we must have the wisdom to research and study a subject rather than take the word of one person as the truth. Perhaps this is why the Holy Bible is written by a number of witnesses, testifying to the accuracy of events that were recorded for the benefit of future generations. Matthew, Mark and Luke describe many of the same events from their perspectives, but they quote the speaker, Jesus Christ, quite accurately. In addition, the power of Christ’s testimony [witness/Holy Spirit] gave the disciples revelation about what they had seen and heard after He ascended to sit at the right hand of the Father.

It’s interesting how the self-help section of bookstores is one of the most popular genres in the bookstore today. People go there to get advise about their problems, search for the meaning of life, or get a better understanding about their relationships. I used to be one of those people until I learned that the Holy Bible had the answers to most of my questions, and the solution to all of my problems [obedience]. Eventually, I moved into the Christian section of the bookstore to get a better understanding about how to live God’s way. Once there, I discovered that ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ also wrote self help books based on the word of God. That was interesting. Does my help come from the Lord? [Psalm 121:2] or am I responsible for helping myself? I noticed a growing trend of books in the Christian section that declared that man was the master of his own destiny, and suggested that God could be called upon to perform miracles and bring prosperity [riches] into ones life by simply learning prosperity scriptures or prayers to activate His power as if He were a genie in a bottle. There is so much spiritual literature in the Christian section of the bookstore that much of it has become gospel to a world that wants validation. Some bookstores simply use a broader category of Religion instead of separating Christian works. This makes it even easier to find a religion of your choice or to mix and match them according to your lifestyle. Even worse, some Christian writers quote erroneously from the Bible or take scriptures out of context to justify their stand on various issues. And, Christian romance is nothing more than the standard romance novel with a few scriptures thrown in to qualify for the Christian category with large publishers that want to capitalize on the Christian literary market. This is the battlefield of the prophetic scribe.

While all this debauchery is going on, the enemy is taking full advantage of this chaos. He’s counting on the next generation not receiving the power of the Holy Spirit. He’s counting on completely anihalating our children in a battle which will not be faught in video games or on television, but in the spirit. He’s counting on the new spiritual approach to God reducing Him to an intellectual concept that eliminates sin and hell, and tells people that the devil does not exist, thereby stripping them of the power of God, and encouraging them to ignore their enemy, or even worse, that there is no enemy. He’s counting on winning, but the Bible says that He has already lost. However, that does not mean that many will not be lost. It is our job to make sure that as many that can be saved are saved. Jesus is coming when everyone has received the gospel.

The King James Version of the Bible is being replaced by trendier versions that appeal to the new generation. Many of the translations of the Bible have become so watered down and revised to fit the world that the next generation will not inherit the full truth of God’s word or the power of the Holy Spirit through these new versions because they delete or change the meaning of verses and words that contain revelation knowledge. So, who will preach the gospel of truth? Who will continue writing the New Testament? Who will tell the testimony of Jesus Christ with all the power and authority that was given to Him by His Father? Who will save the children from destruction when the devil wreaks even more havoc on the sons and daughters of God? His prophetic scribes, that’s who.

The Bible says, the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophesy [Rev. 19:10]. So, the testimony must continue to be told, and the prophetic word of God must continue to confirm His death, burial, resurrection, our redemption by His blood, our salvation through his sacrifice, the gift of grace that we received … and His return. God left instructions in a prophesy to Saint John. Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; [Rev. 1:19 ]. These instructions are to be taken seriously by the scribes that God has anointed to tell His testimony in these end times. The devil does not cease accusing us. The Bible says, He accuses us day and night to the Father [Rev. 12:10]. But, Jesus is our intercessor. He justifies us. He intercedes for us. However, we must not be found guilty. The best defense cannot justify blatant disobedience. It is our disobedience that leaves open doors for satan to enter our life, tempt us and ultimately destroy us. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 . Satan doesn’t just want to kill our physical body. He wants our soul as a trophy.

Many will say that true prophets and scribes are too serious, old-fashioned and put way too much emphasis on heaven and hell, but it is our assignment. Jesus said, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old. [Mat. 13:52]. This is scribal warfare, and I serve as a testimony for Jesus Christ.
