A Letter to my Husband: I Submit to You

I submit to you is an excerpt from the book entitled, For the Love of God, A collection of praise and worship poems by The Prophetic Scribe – Arletia Mayfield (McInnis)

THE STORY BEHIND THE POEM:

This poem was written prophetically before I ever met my husband.  The Lord was preparing me to be submissive.  It described him (down to his hazel eyes).  We married within 3 months of meeting each other on my 50th birthday (the year of Jubilee) in 2010. He proposed the first time we met face to face as the Lord warned me he would do.

THE PROPHECIES:  We received two prophetic confirmations through my pastor prior to marrying.  The first was a sermon about the two marriages (In the Garden of Eden in Genesis and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in Revelation).  We had actually married twice.  The first in a private ceremony in Eden Park, OH and the second at my husband’s church in Ohio. The second was the day after we got engaged.  We went to church and when I showed the ring to my pastor he asked us to sit near the front until he called us.  When he called us he asked my husband to propose as an illustration of the marriage of the bride and groom.  People still remember that proposal to this day.  They think it was spontaneous, but the pastor told us that he didn’t know who he would get for his demonstration until we walked in the church that day.  After these prophetic confirmations, my husband said, “This is my new pastor.”  We married in Ohio, moved to Atlanta and made our home there for six years.

Arletia Mayfield is called The Prophetic Scribe because she writes under the direction of the Holy Spirit.  She is an ordained minister and Bible teacher. She is an author and the publisher of TPS Publications providing resources and tools to creatively share the Good News of the Gospel of the Jesus Christ.
